frequently asked questions
How old should a newborn be for their newborn photography session?
Newborn photography sessions are best done when the baby is 5-15 days old. Ideally, it is best to do them at this time as newborns of this age are very sleepy and sleep very deeply. They are also very bendy and pose-able! This means that most sessions done at this time are easier and smoother for the baby as we want the baby as happy as possible during our newborn photography sessions!
When should I book my newborn photography session?
I recommend that you arrange the session at least 4-5 weeks before birth. I would book you in a session about 5-15 days after your due date and then if you are early or late we will reschedule. The success of the shooting starts with its being done at the most appropriate time.
How long do newborn photography sessions last?
I generally start the newborn session at 10.30 am and it takes approximately 2-4 hours. Shooting in the morning is very important for the newborn baby’s sleep routine. The shooting of newborn babies older than 3 weeks can usually start a little later. Because older babies are less likely to sleep in the first hours of the day.
Should I feed my baby before coming?
If possible it’s best to feed your little one first thing when you get to my studio, as then it is easier and smoother to transition into the sleepy photos. I try to finish the shooting before your baby goes to the new feeding cycle but of course the baby is the boss.
What are you doing if my baby doesn’t sleep and doesn’t cooperate?
I take my shoots without forgetting that your baby is still a baby. I do everything to calm your baby and ensure his/her comfort. I understand their situation and create the flow of attraction accordingly. Some babies don’t sleep during the shoot, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have beautiful photos.
Do newborn photography sessions include images of family members?
Yes, family members are included in the shoot. For the shoot, I suggest you wear light-toned clothes that are compatible with each other and do not prefer distracting colours and striped clothes. In addition, if you have another child, I recommend that he/she be compatible with you and bring his/her favourite toys with you if you have them.
How soon can we get the photos?
I am sharing an Online Gallery with you within 2 weeks at the latest. Here you can see all your photos and select your favourite images. After completing your selection, I professionally edit them and send you online.
My baby’s umbilical cord has not fallen off. Does this affect the shoot?
No, it doesn’t affect the shoot. I pay particular attention to this area while wrapping and dressing your baby.
How is your shooting flow?
Generally, I start the shoot with the bed poses or bean bag poses, then I do half wrap and continue with the bucket poses and then I continue the shoot by wrapping the baby for basket poses. This shooting flow can change depends to your baby. Finally, while baby wrapped, I continue with the family shoot.
I missed the newborn window and my baby is now older than 15 days old, do you take them?
I photograph older babies as well, but your baby is now not so sleepy and more alert to everything, so please understand I may do more wrap poses and some poses can be awake.
Is it possible to shoot in both a bubble bath and a milk bath for a cake smash photography session?
Yes, I shoot both ways if you want, for an extra £30 fee. It is very important to say this beforehand, because if you have chosen a bubble bath and you want to add a milk bath during shooting, we may not be able to add at the last minute as the flowers or fruits I will use in the milk bath will not be ready.
